Things I like lately

1. The Jesus And Mary Chain. They are wistful 90’s rock that I might need forever.
2. Lena Dunham.  Disclaimer: I haven’t seen Girls. I don’t have cable. It leaves more time for writing. But I did watch Tiny Furniture. Five minutes in, I knew Lena Dunham was one of the girls that shared my boringly, plain form of psychosis. She is awkward, sometimes selfish, but seemingly genuine.
3. Sharon Olds. She says the words I can’t say out loud, but better and nicer. Less swears for sure.
4. Other women I admire: Courtney Love, Lorrie Moore, Terry Tempest Williams, Molly Ringwald in Pretty in Pink, Sylvia Plath, and Roxanne Gay. I like my women fierce and flawed.  They are willing to spit in the eye of convention and smile while they do it. They are crazy for their art. Shamon.
5. Dessa. She is an amazing rapper from Minnesota that drops Anna Karenina in her rhymes. She is eloquent and real. She is what I would want to be if I could perform in front of people.
6. Stupid dares by the bif. He is capable of making me the act like the smartest, dumbest, and happiest girl- pretty much all at the same time. It is a valuable feat.
7. 70/80 degree weather.
8. I feel like this is an addendum to # 5 & #7, but Minnesota. There is nothing that I like better than Minnesota in Spring/Summer. I live by a waterfall. I walk my dog by a creek with ducks. I live a mile from a lake with a beach.  When it is green, Minnesota is paradise. Not to mention that I am seeing four of my favorite musicians/bands within the next few months. AND I could get gay married for my birthday, if I was so inclined. Oh Minnesota, you are my jam.
