That writer thing…

I have been busy. The Paisley Fields toured the Midwest. I helped promote the tour and then accompanied them on about half of it. I have posted some of the press they received on the Press page. The tour was fun and exhausting. I think maybe I am not cut out to be a rock star. It is probably for the best because I can’t really sing. We saw a lot of our friends and family when we were in Iowa for the tour. And my friend’s mom hooked us up with these AMAZING cupcakes because it was also my birthday. If you have a chance to have a Maple Bacon cupcake from Scratch Bakery, DO IT. I am serious.

Along with seeing The Paisley Fields play multiple, amazing shows, I have been to other concerts too. I saw Desaparecidos at First Avenue last week. Conor Oberst makes me go all fan girl. He is a great writer and performer. And cute. Did I mention he is adorable? Then one of my friends hooked me up with free tickets to the Mumford & Sons show at the Excel Center. Our seats were so good. The band put on an amazing show. I was grinning ear-to-ear pretty much the whole night, except when some buzzkills behind us asked us to sit down. I mean we are at an amazing concert, why aren’t you standing up and at least pretending to enjoy yourself? I digress.

I haven’t been writing much, which makes me feel guilty. But seeing a bunch of amazing music puts me in a great frame of mind. I feel happy and recharged. I am in a good place to start writing more. All I need to do is sit down and do it. I have written a little here and there, but mostly I need to focus on finishing things. I did edit one of my stories to enter a contest, but then missed the deadline. So I need to find a new place to submit it. Oh and I received another rejection. BUT instead of crumbling, I wrote a poem that night. So I’m getting there. I am trying to do that writer thing.
